The Marie Claire Style China gala came to an end with a grand showcase of 18 designs featuring Chinese styles on the night of December 9 in Beijing.
With Chinese handicraft art as this year's theme, top world brands including Dior, Giorgio Armani, Louis Vuitton and Fendi all brought unique designs. Inspired by Chinese embroidery, some incorporated it in the designs for their dresses and bags, while some made use of Chinese elements such as peony flowers and folding fans.
According to Deng Li, chief content officer of fashion magazine Marie Claire, the magazine is always seeking ways in fashion circles "to preserve, pass down and develop traditional handicraft."
"From this year's works, we not only can see many popular and in elements, but also feel the eternity passed by generations," she added.
Marie Claire launched the Style China gala back in 2008.
In 2011, it worked with the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation to set up a special foundation to support local Chinese handicraft heritages.
The magazine also announced a new project at the gala, a fashion film aimed at women, the Marie Claire 2017 Fashion Movie.
